Don't worry, there's still a big breakdown.
A new machine.
Architects have fired up the machine and delivered their first song of 2026. Coincidentally, the new track arrives under the name of “Machine.” The U.K. rock-and-metalcore group put the song onto streamers earlier today (September 16th), marking their first major release since the arrival of last year’s The Sky, the Earth & All Between album. The song is a heart-pounder. Backed at times by a near-“Closer”-styled mechano-crunch and wriggled synth-bass, it finds vocalist Sam Carter pleading for understanding and human connection. While we’re at it, we’ll add that the “I built myself again” line also gives off trace amounts of Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt”. While he’s often found in vulnerable croon-mode, the mid-song breakdown has Carter laying into a beastly growl. You can check out the cut now via a new music video by Jensen Noen. A press release notes that the video “explores perception and control, moving from a grounded reality into an increasingly abstract and distorted world.” Without spoiling too much, we’ll add that the sci-fi-leaning short film also features Madonna-like figures, symbolic stabbings, techno-organic relationships and a bit of performance footage. Architects launch a European tour at Stuttgart, Germany’s Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle venue on October 18th. You’ll find more details on that month-long run over here.
