In an age of deepfakes and digital lies, Amy Lee and Evanescence are fighting for something real. There are two versions of this Summer’s Evanescence cover: a standard edition featuring the full band, and a collector’s edition sporting an alternate solo shot of Lee that comes packaged in a numbered slipcase printed with soft touch and spot gloss finishing. Both feature stunning photography by Cedrick Jones, while the latter has been bundled together with a copy of Sanctuary on “Deep Sea Blue” vinyl (limited to 500) and your choice of either a standard or hand-cropped T-shirt. Evanescence are thriving in their Sanctuary era — and so are their fans, who voted the album the best of the year thus far in a recent Revolver poll. That said, Amy Lee has added even more art to her already blockbuster summer by delivering an ambient vocal score to recent short film The Seventh Turn. The film — which was written, directed and produced by Eric D. Howell — was released through streaming service Kinema last week, and is described as “a 20-minute ghost story that explores coercive control and the quiet courage it takes to reclaim one’s truth.” It had been revealed last year that Lee had contributed to the score, developing the music alongside composer Michael Wandmacher. Lee’s process involved improvised vocalizations. In addition to the film being hosted on Kinema, a deluxe 11-song, 20-minute score — aglow in ghostly moans, choral melodies and ambient cries — is now streaming as well. You can check out the soundtrack — described by Lee as an extended, uninterrupted audio journey she hopes serves to stir your heart and imagination — in full up above. Poppy is popping off hard with members of Knocked Loose and House of Protection in the new video for “Dying to Forget,” a red-eyed raging metalcore explosion from the artist’s recent Empty Hands album. The new video had been teased earlier in the month through a photo of Poppy posing in a warehouse alongside Knocked Loose guitarist Isaac Hale and House of Protection’s Stephen Harrison (both musicians have co-writing credits on the song), as well as masked members of Poppy’s band. Today (June 17th), the video arrived in full, finding Poppy stalking an industrial locale full of heavy music fans heaving themselves around to the d-beated, viciously screamed, and sometimes sung “Dying to Forget.” Additionally, there are a few transformative scenes of Poppy resting in a giant egg, and then punching her way through a bunch of surrounding eggshells. You can peep the cracking new video up above. As previously reported, Poppy’s forthcoming “Constantly Nowhere” tour begins July 7th at Washington, DC’s Echostage.
