Bibliophiles beware: Western Mass outfit Restraining Order are here to ruin your day with a heavy blast of blast of ‘tude-heavy street-punk. Need proof? Well, the band have teamed up with Revolver to premiere the music video for their new single “Used Love,” where they terrorize a faux intellectual trying to get his read on. The song comes from Restraining Order’s 2025 LP Future Fortune, which is out now through Blue Grape Music. The music video was directed by Derek Rathbun while the band was touring through Austin, Texas. In the spirit of keeping things weird, the clip has the quartet straight-up stalking some beleaguered bookworm while blasting their boombox in his face. He tries to evade them to enjoy his Melville and Dostoyevsky novels (or, at least, that’s what his DIY book jackets are passing them off as), but the Restraining Order dudes keep scaring him out of public park scenes and porta-johns. “At a surface level, the Used Love music video may seem to be a commentary on anti-intellectualism, fart jokes and raging,” says drummer Will Hirst, cheekily confirming with Revolver: “On a deeper level, it is that, too.” You can peep the new music video up above. Next up for Restraining Order, the band are currently prepping a live album for their label, Blue Grape Music.
