US djent/metalcore band Currents has joined Rise Records for the release of their new album. Titled Our Fates Lie In Tandem, the new record will hit the stores on February 12th, 2027. Listen to their new song "Retributioner," the first one to be released, below.

Connecticut quintet Currents have risen to the occasion and delivered a new song called “Retributioner,” which acts as the first single to the melodic metalcore group’s first album for Rise Records: Our Fates Lie in Tandem. A press release finds the band describing the new tune as being about “how our world smothers the righteous,” and reflects a mix of callousness, conflict, and people clawing at each other in their quest to get to the top. “We’re told that to get anywhere in life you need to abandon your principles and cut through others as they would to you,” the members of Currents continue in their joint statement, “fostering a sense of war-mindedness regarding those we compete with, debate with, and don’t agree with. ‘Retributioner’ seeks to dismantle those ideas, even if it means dismantling the structures and systems perpetuating them.” You’ll find the band performing the track, fit with melancholic chord swings and a mix of croons and cries, via the new video up above. Though Currents issued their catalogue-reimagining Worlds Away EP earlier this year, Our Fates Lie in Tandem will be their first album since 2023’s The Death We Seek. Guitarist and Chris Wiseman produced the new 11-song album, though additional production work was proffered by Ricky Armellino, and it was mixed by Jon Dolese (Chelsea Grin, Cane Hill). The band add that their upcoming fourth full-length is their most cohesive work to date, yet it was crafted through “an intense, multi-year process that has challenged our existing framework of songwriting.” Vocalist Brian Willie has revealed that, lyrically, it contains “social commentary and a little bit of heartbreak too.” The album is out February 12th through Rise, though a pre-order for Our Fates Lie in Tandem on exclusive “Bleach”-colored vinyl (limited to 300 copies) is up now in Revolver’s shop, along with other vinyl variant and CD options.
