The list of killer new songs we’re throwing on our 2026 playlist grows exponentially each week — and the heavy hits just keep on coming. Last week, we asked our readers to rank the five best albums that came out between January and June, and they raised their horns to honor a mix of nu-brooding anthems, post-metal comebacks and hardcore faves. Naturally, we’ve now asked them to also weigh in on the standout songs of 2026. There’s a bit of crossover, to be sure, but these were their votes for the top 5 tracks of the still-young year, ranked accordingly. Neurosis Blind It’s been plain to see that Neurosis’ surprise comeback album was something that the heavy-music community both craved and needed — that’s why An Undying Love for a Burning World placed so high in our recent album poll, coming in as our readers’ second favorite of the year so far. The thought of picking but one key juggernaut off this cohesive epic seemed a daunting task, but the fans have pointed to “Blind” as the song to beat. It’s full of brawny doom riffs, elephantine guitar bends, psychedelic noise passages and gruff, yet reflective shouts that hint at Neurosis’ long journey back to us (“Find our way through the fields we have sown”). Marilyn Manson Exit Wound Marilyn Manson fans have poured one out in honor of “Exit Wound,” the formal entry point to the shock rocker’s much-anticipated One Assassination Under God – Chapter 2. The song takes on a familiarly brooding aesthetic — think psyche-spearing guitar judding, haunted house keyboard melodies and a chorus of eerily layered “ohs” that recall “The Beautiful People.” Manson whispers and shouts of being the godforsaken one, absorbing praise and hate in one fell swoop as a pack of vultures buzz above him. That titular wound’s not healing anytime soon, per Manson. That’s good news for the fans, who keep lapping up the resultant downpour. Evanescence Rapture While Evanescence fans have clearly been loving all of the nu-rockers’ recently released Sanctuary album — they confirmed as much while ranking the release high in our poll for the Top 5 albums of 2026 so far — it’s fair to say that the song they’ve been feeling the most is “Rapture.” It’s a slow-burning, super-dramatic chunk-out featuring “Tubular Bell”-ish tones, mega-distorted guitar melancholy, gothic reprieves and a frantically glass-crashing, hard-drive-snapping collusion of noise in the breakdown. Amy Lee delivers rock-operatic catharsis while apparently drowning an emotionally-manipulative antagonist in a flood of their own tears. Biblically savage. Mastodon Your Ghost Again Mastodon made a most welcome return this spring with their first song since 2024 — and likewise since both the departure of guitarist Brent Hinds from their lineup, and his subsequent passing. It’s emotionally charged to say the least, the surviving members reflecting on the fate of their fallen friend and their own path forward, hopes and regrets swirling through an emotions-charged and astoundingly powerful performance of sludge-style groove and heartfelt progressive twistiness. Motionless in White Afraid of the Dark Revolver readers shone a spotlight on Motionless in White’s “Afraid of the Dark” this week, coronating it the best song of 2026 thus far. Informed by multiple eras of MIW — delivering both blistering metalcore aggression and a melodic, mega-anthemic chorus — this pick also features a particularly cathartic explosion from the band s frontman, Chris Motionless. This time, the MIW vocalist heads into the unknown to overcome struggles, “siphon all the power from the pain” and go supernova with fierce determination. “Afraid of the Dark” is a fist-raising anthem about perseverance, and it’s rallying folks to keep it together through 2026 and beyond.

Here at Revolver, we re always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it s a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in deathcore, black metal, goth rock and more that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ. For your listening pleasure, we ve also compiled the songs in an ever-evolving Spotify playlist. Chat Pile Deep Blue Though Chat Pile said they were channeling the “fake Led Zeppelin” vibes of English rocker Robin Trower on their new single, we feel like the Oklahoman noiseniks might be putting us on a bit with that comparison. Rather than let the good times roll with cocksure bluesy swagger, “Deep Blue” harnesses dire, detuned, avalanche-triggering sludge lines. Vocalist Ray Busch is existentially deflated, exhausted by technology and frustrated by the false narrative we create for ourselves as we “move deeper into screens.” Maybe that emptiness lines up with the lines of Trower’s “Lonely is the Night,” after all. Hulder View From Nemeton” We’re days away from summer and the sun is only getting brighter, yet gloom-casting Pacific Northwest black-metal duo Hulder are here to remind you that living in Washington State through the rest of the year can feel like having a soggy gray curtain drawn over your eyes. That said, their “View From Nemeton” is looking pretty good to us. A vicious vista of blast-manic drums and blistering trills flood the front-end of the epic cut, though it gets down right jubilant in the power-swung guitar solo section. Imminence The Sword That Never Bends Imminence’s new single is forged in steely screams, iron-wrought riffage and darkly anthemic melodies that cleave through the speakers like the mighty Excalibur. Even so, it’s still a damn delight when vocalist Eddie Berg brings his violin bow out of the scabbard to supply a few sweeter lines to this otherwise brawny beater. The Swedish band s first single for Sumerian Records arrived with a medieval music video full of sword-swinging battles and sorcerous showdowns, apparently teasing the visual aesthetic behind their next album. Whatever pops up next, if it’s anything like “The Sword That Never Bends,” it’s sure to be magical. Madball Tethered “Tethered” follows the dub-lite and anthemic rock explorations of last month’s single “Rebel Kids” with tried, tested and true NYHC gusto. In other words, Madball are bringing tough-as-leather riffs and cement-shattering grooves to the table, while vocalist Freddy Cricien mean-mugs on the mic about hard-knock livin’ on the “savage streets” of New York. “News flash, I m still here,” the singer shouts on the track. And, indeed, Madball deliver a veteran’s beatdown here — old man strength, if you will. To paraphrase Cricien s latest street-wise tale of perseverance, we re psyched Madball are “still on this wild-ass ride.” Marilyn Manson Exit Wound “I m the one. The godforsaken one.” Marilyn Manson is a veritable downer Dr. Doolittle on this first taste of his impending and long-awaited One Assassination Under God – Chapter 2, finding himself encircled by a pack of ravenous vultures and leeches. It’s the shock rocker that delivers the beastliest blow by song’s end, as he lets out an animalistic scream above a brooding fracas of slinky hi-hat grooves and see-sawing industrial riffage. There’s a line in here about swallowing a grenade, perhaps an unintended allusion to how the rest of the record could pop off big when it lands in the summer. Rev3rent - Last One Here Rev3rent’s Josh Bailey Guard is on a tear throughout his deathcore group’s ruthless new song, smearing viscera on the walls of your mind with a series of brutal screeches about “disfiguring your innocence.” From the speed pill-snorting blast sections and lightning-speed hammer-on harmonies, to the bone-snapping moshes, to the subsonic bass drops, a no-holds-barred savagery rattles each second of “Last One Here.” Filled with hate and high-energy depravity, it’s a killer next step for Rev3rent.

Nearly a year and a half after the release of his comeback album, One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1, Marilyn Manson announced Chapter 2 today (June 12th), heralding it with lead single Exit Wound. A seething, glam-spiked goth-rock anthem with pointed lyrics ( Take your picture at the scene of the crime/We got your victim and we ve made up your mind ), the song arrived along with a mostly live music video capturing Manson s current lineup, including recently returned member Tim Skold, in action. Watch and listen above. I am proud to give you the second chapter of One Assassination Under God, Manson commented on socials. This completes my story. I used each stone that was thrown at me to sharpen my edges. I outgrew purgatory and carved these songs into the skin of the world. As you listen I hope it forms a scar that you cannot forget. Like Chapter 1, the sequel features an original Manson painting as its cover art, this one a spooky, high-foreheaded portrait resembling Death in Ingmar Bergman s The 7th Seal (a character later parodied in the Bill Ted movies.) A California judge has denied Marilyn Manson's latest attempt to have Ashley Walters' sexual-assault case against him dismissed.

Judge Steve Cochran decided that the claims of Manson's former assistant, Ashley Walters, are "strong enough to let the case move forward."
