Hear EVANESCENCE’s stunning new album ‘Sanctuary’A few months after announcing their new album with the gloriously anthemic, reality-questioning “Who Will You Follow” single, towering rock force Evanescence have finally invited listeners to check out the rest of their Sanctuary. The band’s sixth album officially arrived in stores and onto streamers today (June 5th). As previously reported, Sanctuary features not only the chug-battering “Who Will You Follow,” which became Evanescence’s first-ever single to top Billboard’s Hard Rock Song Chart, but the group’s 2025 single “Afterlife.” The record features songs produced alongside Zakk Cervini (Poppy, Motionless in White), Jordan Fish (Poppy, BABYMETAL, Architects) and Nick Raskulinecz (Korn, Foo Fighters, Rush). Sanctuary delivers deep-djented rock riffs and symphonic grandeur (“Self Destruct”). Elsewhere, the cavernous, rockslide drum production and doom-brooded guitar gravitas of “Rapture” support Lee’s lines on reclaiming ownership of oneself (“I’m giving back all the shame I carried for you”). “Calm Down” slow-creeps its way through Lee’s operatic bombast, as well as cooly gospel-ish backups, nu-dustrial flourishes and arena-huge hooks. As measured in contrasts, the chorus of otherwise feather-soft piano ballad Forever Without You may arguably find Lee pushing her powerful vibrato the hardest. While album opener “Beautiful Lie” begins with Lee’s assertion that “I don’t belong to you,” Evanescence’s new album now belongs to the fans. You can stream the album in full up above. Evanescence’s world tour starts next Thursday (June 11th) at West Palm Beach, Florida’s iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre. The North American leg of dates features openers Spiritbox and Nova Twins. A European run with Poppy take place later in the year. You’ll find all of Evanescence’s upcoming show schedule here.

Hear POPPY cover ALANIS MORISSETTE for ‘Mile End Kicks’ soundtrackFrom Empty Hands to “Hand in My Pocket” — genre-defier Poppy has officially released an Alanis Morissette cover as part of the soundtrack to Canadian indie film Mile End Kicks. While director Chandler Levack’s coming-of-age film set during Montreal, Quebec’s mid Aughts indie-rock scene premiered at the Toronto International Film Fest last fall, and received a wider theatrical release in April, Poppy’s cover of Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill single formally hit streamers today (May 26th). If you’re expecting to hear the kinds of blood-curdling metalcore screams Poppy affixed to the heaviest moments of Empty Hands, you’re going to come up…well…empty handed. Instead, Poppy hits a reasonably grounded rendition of the anthemic mid Nineties Morissette number, possibly with one hand playing a piano. What it all comes down to is this: Poppy’s Alanis cover is streaming up above via Sumerian Records. As previously reported, Poppy drops into her “Constantly Nowhere” North American headline tour later this summer and then spends her fall supporting Evanescence on a European tour.

See EVANESCENCE bend reality in new video “Who Will You Follow”After giving new single “Who Will You Follow” its live debut at Sick New World last month, Evanescence have now delivered a music video for the incandescent, yet brooding rock anthem. We’d previously saluted the song, from the band’s forthcoming Sanctuary LP, for the way it ebb-and-flows “between serene piano motifs and bruised-orange nu-rock riff-outs,” as well as the way Lee contorts herself from “gently-whispered musings towards a skies-splitting vibrato as she reflects on the ‘crack in the Matrix’ altering our realities.” Now, Lee and the rest of Evanescence navigate those planes while either rocking the tune from a busy street setting, or cruising through ivory halls as a bunch of phone-jockeys scroll through their phones. Lee then takes the plunge on a wild, “Tower of Terror”-esque elevator ride to hell, and resumes rocking with her band as a metropolis tears itself apart from the seams. You’ll find the new vid streaming up above. As previously reported, Evanescence’s Sanctuary album is due out June 5th via Sony Music / Columbia. The 12-song collection, which follows 2021’s The Bitter Truth, also features Evanescence’s 2025 single “Afterlife.” Vinyl and CD copies of Sanctuary are up for pre-order in Revolver’s shop. Evanescence’s world tour starts in June, with a North American run sporting openers Spiritbox and Nova Twins. A European leg of dates with Poppy take place later in the year.
