After dealing with a “PSYCHO” in her last nu-grooving single, Kami Kehoe is making a splash with a dark new dance song, “DIRTY”. The new track is Kehoe’s fourth single of the year. While those other offerings included a visceral reworking of Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire” and the aforementioned aggression of “PSYCHO,” “DIRTY” plays more like a turn-of-the-century, pop-and-R B-flirting club banger. Full of pulsing bass production and nocturnal swells, it finds Kehoe’s subtle mic work weighing in on messy relationships, tainted love and feeling “dangerous.” Then, in its closing moments, the song ratchets up the filthiness with a final burst of fuzz-corroded, harmonic tension. A press release calls the tune a “a raw, sensual reckoning,” while the music video finds Kehoe encircled by a group of women “whose hypnotic movements and intimate touch blur the line between seduction and control.” By song s end, everyone s covered in a symbolically mysterious onyx goo. “I know you guys like it ‘DIRTY,’” Kehoe says in a statement, adding, “Happy Pride Month, this one s for you.” As previously reported, Kehoe is set to go on tour with Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle and Starset this September.
