Out October 17th, Pre-Order Here Newly restored high-resolution footage of George Greenough’s pioneering film ‘Echoes’ from 1973 cult-classic surf film Crystal Voyager available via Pink Floyd’s YouTube channel on 17th October (18th September 2026) – Today, Pink Floyd announce a new San Tropez Orange Marble vinyl edition of their landmark 1971 album Meddle, for this year’s National Album Day, via Sony Music. Out on October 17th, you can pre-order Meddle Here. To celebrate the occasion on 17 October, Pink Floyd’s YouTube channel will premiere a newly restored high-resolution 4K version of the iconic “Echoes” surf film which was shot in 1970/71 by legendary surfer and pioneering water cinematographer George Greenough . A pivotal moment in the band’s development, Meddle was the sixth studio album by the British rock group, originally released in 1971. Produced between touring commitments and widely regarded as a notable progression from their previous work, the band devised a series of novel recording and writing experiments, which also inspired the album’s signature track, ‘Echoes’. Alongside this, it’s also announced that a newly restored high-resolution version of the iconic ‘Echoes’ sequence, the final chapter from cult-classic 1973 surf film Crystal Voyager will be available via Pink Floyd’s YouTube channel on 17th October. The 1973 documentary directed by David Elfick was written and narrated by futuristic surfer, photographer and filmmaker George Greenough. Its iconic closing sequence shot by Greenough showcased his innovative new technique for filming in the water, involving a self-developed and built seventeen pound camera rig, which allowed the audience to see footage from inside a wave for the first time ever. Greenough was looking for an appropriate soundtrack for this groundbreaking footage, and stumbled across a record his mother had bought for him. Upon hearing the closing track, and noting its perfectly matched 23-minute run time, he knew he had found what he was looking for. Then came the necessity of getting permission to use the song. Elfick travelled to London to meet with the band, and disclosed the fact that they didn’t actually have the money to pay them for use of the song. An agreement was proposed, whereby Elfick and Greenough could use the song, if Floyd could use the footage as background visuals for their live shows. With both parties happy, the deal was made, and ‘Echoes’ became an iconic accompaniment to a legendary film. Speaking on ‘Echoes’, George Greenough said: “I’d never heard ‘Echoes’ before until my mother got it for me. When I heard it, I went, ‘my god, that’s gotta be the soundtrack!’ We asked about using it, and we made a deal with Pink Floyd and everybody had smiles on their faces. That was over 50 years ago and the footage and the audio still looks and sounds groundbreaking today. I’m just so stoked that this whole thing is coming about; it’s amazing to work with Pink Floyd again. The big sound and the big picture; you can’t beat it!” Upon release, ‘Echoes’ immediately became an enduring fan favourite, regularly played live during the busy five year period of 1971 – 1975, and featured heavily in Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii, with the song split into two halves, to bookend the movie. ‘Echoes’ was resurrected at the start of the 1987 A Momentary Lapse Of Reason tour for the first eleven shows that year, and again for David Gilmour’s 2006 On An Island tour where it closed the main set of each show. Finally, sixteen years later, Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets added Echoes to their set to much acclaim. It’s regarded as one of the key musical pieces from the band’s earlier period, with Meddle a key, essential album. This National Album Day release continues a remarkable couple of years for Pink Floyd. Earlier this year saw the release of 8-Tracks, a new official Pink Floyd compilation project, featuring eight essential classics selected from the band’s 1971 – 1979 era. This followed the 50th anniversary release of Wish You Were Here becoming a Top 10 charting album across the world, signalling Pink Floyd’s second #1 release of 2025 in the UK, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, 50 years after it first topped the chart. Seven months prior, the cinematic release of Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII became a Top 10 Box Office hit, and the accompanying soundtrack album earned the band’s first UK #1 album since 2014’s The Endless River – their final studio LP. Available on Vinyl and CD via Sony Music for the Very First Time 4LP Edition Available Exclusively for Record Store Day on April 18th 2CD Edition out on April 24th Available for Pre-Order HERE (27th March 2026) Pink Floyd have confirmed the official album release of the rare live concert, Pink Floyd Live from the Los Angeles Sports Arena, April 26th, 1975. The legendary recording, first captured as a bootleg during the band’s 1975 Wish You Were Here Tour across North America, will now be available for the first time on standalone CD and vinyl editions via Sony Music. A 4LP clear vinyl will be released exclusively for Record Store Day on 18th April, followed by a 2CD edition on 24th April, available for pre-order here. Both releases feature the full concert across 16 live recordings, newly restored and remastered by acclaimed producer and musician Steven Wilson. Pink Floyd Live from the Los Angeles Sports Arena, April 26th, 1975 spotlights the band during their rapid ascent. The Dark Side of the Moon had taken Pink Floyd from a hugely successful breakout British band to one of the biggest rock groups on the planet. Arenas and stadiums would now play host to their performances. The Wish You Were Here Tour was announced in early March 1975, just one month prior to commencing. The shows instantly sold out and broke box office records, including that of the Los Angeles Sports Arena, which in a single day sold all of its 67,000 ticket allocation for the scheduled four-night run. An extra fifth show signalled a residency, and sold out within a matter of hours. The recording that lays the foundation of this historic release was created by the late bootlegger Mike “Mike the Mic” Millard, whose tapes from concerts across Los Angeles in the 1970s became renowned for their surprisingly clear sound quality. To conceal his recording equipment from venue security, Millard would often pretend to be disabled and arrive to concerts in a wheelchair. Many of Millard’s bootlegs were pressed onto vinyl unofficially, however he did not condone the sale of his recordings for profit. Pink Floyd’s penultimate concert at the Los Angeles Arena was no exception, remaining unreleased and unheard by all but a few audio trading collectors, until now. Meticulously restored and remastered by Steven Wilson, this is the definitive live recording of Pink Floyd’s 1975 tour. The recordings were heard for the first time when released as part of the 2025 UK #1 album Wish You Were Here 50 box set. At the time of the Los Angeles Sports Arena shows, Pink Floyd were in a period of creative transition. While a new album had originally been expected earlier in 1975, the band embarked on their North American tour whilst still developing new material live, on stage. The performance opened with early versions of songs initially titled as ‘Raving and Drooling’ and ‘You’ve Got To Be Crazy’, later evolving into ‘Sheep’ and ‘Dogs’ which would feature on their 10th album, Animals. ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond’ in its two parts bookended another new composition, ‘Have A Cigar’. Following these new compositions, the band performed The Dark Side of The Moon in full, with ‘Echoes’ as an encore. The 2026 release of Pink Floyd Live from the Los Angeles Sports Arena, April 26th, 1975 follows a remarkable year for Pink Floyd. The 50th anniversary release of Wish You Were Here became a Top 10 charting album across the world, signalling Pink Floyd’s second #1 release of 2025 in the UK, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, 50 years after it first topped the chart. Seven months earlier, the cinematic release of Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII became a Top 10 Box Office hit, and the accompanying soundtrack album earned the band’s first UK #1 album since 2014’s The Endless River – their final studio LP. Newly Restored Version of Iconic 1972 Film Released by Sony Music Vision Out now in 4k Ultra HD on Blu-Ray Order Here (16th January 2025) Sony Music Vision announce the release of Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLIXXII on 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray, available from 27th February here. The newly restored version of the band’s iconic 1972 concert film is presented in 4K, upgraded from the original 35mm footage with newly remixed Dolby Atmos, stereo and 5.1 audio. Following its praised return to cinemas in 2025, one of Pink Floyd’s most beloved works now becomes available in an ultimate home-viewing edition, presenting the iconic performance in its most immersive form to date. Pink Floyd At Pompeii pre-dates the release of The Dark Side Of The Moon. The film documents what Pink Floyd did before they became giants of the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic – where their music remains celebrated to this day. Set in the hauntingly beautiful ruins of the ancient Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy, this unique and immersive film captures Pink Floyd performing an intimate concert without an audience. Filmed in October 1971, the performance marked the very first live concert to take place at Pompeii, and features the vital ‘Echoes,’ ‘A Saucerful of Secrets,’ and ‘One of These Days.’ The breathtaking visuals of the amphitheatre, captured both day and night, amplify the magic of the performance. Additionally, the film includes rare behind-the-scenes footage of the band beginning work on The Dark Side of the Moon at Abbey Road Studios. The worldwide theatrical release in Spring 2025 received widespread acclaim, described as a “mesmerically peculiar portrait of a band on cusp of greatness” by The Guardian, “required viewing for every aspiring young musician” by The Telegraph, “magnificent” by the Financial Times and “iconic” by the NME. The accompanying, and first-ever, album soundtrack release Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii via Legacy Recordings debuted at #1 on the Official UK Albums Chart, topped charts internationally, and was heralded as “a five-star, captivating new mix” by The Times. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray release presents Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII in its most premium form to date. Led by Lana Topham, Director of Restoration for Pink Floyd, the team’s mission was to preserve the integrity and beauty of the original picture. The film was scanned in 4K using advanced techniques to ensure the finest, sharpest detail. Colors were enhanced, and every frame was meticulously reviewed and repaired by hand, maintaining a natural and vivid appearance with minimal grain adjustments. “Since 1994, I have searched for the elusive film rushes of Pink Floyd At Pompeii, so the recent discovery of the 1972 original 35mm cut negative was a very special moment. The newly restored version presents the first full 90-minute cut, combining the 60-minute source edit of the performance with the additional Abbey Road Studios documentary segments filmed shortly after,” said Lana Topham, Director of Restoration for Pink Floyd. The film also features stunning sound quality with a new home entertainment mix by Steven Wilson in Dolby Atmos, stereo and 5.1, enhancing the film’s depth and clarity whilst preserving the authenticity and spirit of the original 1972 release. Wilson’s aim was to remain faithful to how the band would have sounded in 1971. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray release of Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII arrives amidst a period of global attention for Pink Floyd, following the December 2025 release of Wish You Were Here 50. The 50th anniversary of the iconic album was surrounded by universal acclaim, commercial success, new creativity and fan events. The album is now certified 3x Platinum in the UK after marking the band’s second #1 record in the Official UK Albums Chart in 2025, and 7x Platinum in the United States. MOJO confirmed, “it’s as relevant now as it was half a century ago” in a five star review, whilst Vulture heard, “one of the greatest albums in the rock canon, bar none.” Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII is available in 4k Ultra HD Blu-Ray to order here. Wish You Were Here 50 is released to widespread acclaim, with critics celebrating both the renewed energy of the mixes and the emotional weight of the album that continues to endure half a century on. The Times wrote, “If you want to find the essence of Pink Floyd, look no further than Wish You Were Here,” in a five star review. Uncut Magazine described Wish You Were Here 50 as “timeless,” whilst MOJO defined the album “as relevant now as it was half a century ago,” and Record Collector described “an exhilarating masterpiece”, both awarding five star reviews. Elsewhere The Telegraph heard, “an ambitious masterpiece by a band at the height of their powers”. The 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here has been surrounded by a surge of new creative activity across different mediums. Poet Laureate Simon Armitage contributes a piece responding to the album’s themes of emotional distance and absence. The poem, titled Dear Pink Floyd, was described by The Times as “a national occasion”, and by The Guardian as “an epic poem… that reads like a mix between a fan letter and the ramblings of a religious devotee.” Artist and performer Noel Fielding created a series of commissioned paintings in honour of Syd Barrett and Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pts. 1 – 9, now released as a singular continuous body of work. Creative Review describes Fielding’s work as “rekindling the shimmering psychedelic world from which both Barrett and Pink Floyd’s most poignant masterpiece emerged.” To celebrate the release, a four-day series of Wish You Were Here 50 pop-up shops open today, offering fans a physical way to step into the world that shaped the album. In collaboration with News & Coffee Studio, pop-ups open at News & Coffee street kiosks in London, Barcelona, Los Angeles, and Paris. Each location carries an exclusive Wish You Were Here 50 edition of the Brain Damage fanzine, a revival of the editorial project originally founded by Pink Floyd author and historian Glenn Povey. The fanzine appears in five editions worldwide, with 250 individually numbered copies exclusive to each of the four kiosks. Fans will also be able to purchase a limited anniversary edition pressing of Wish You Were Here 50, alongside a range of commemorative merchandise. All pop-up items are strictly limited, and fans are encouraged to arrive early. Opening times and information can be found here. Wish You Were Here 50 is released in multiple formats including 3LP, 2CD, Blu-ray, digital and a Deluxe Box Set. The digital release includes the original 1975 album, featuring a new Dolby Atmos mix by James Guthrie, whose work with Pink Floyd dates back to 1979’s The Wall. It also includes 25 bonus tracks made up of nine studio rarities, and 16 live recordings captured by the renowned bootlegger Mike Millard at Pink Floyd’s Los Angeles Sports Arena concert on April 26th 1975, now receiving its first official release. The live audio has been meticulously restored and remastered by Steven Wilson. The Blu-ray edition also gives fans the chance to see three concert screen films from the band’s 1975 tour, plus a Storm Thorgerson short film. The 3LP and 2CD formats include the original album and the nine studio bonus tracks. The Deluxe Box Set includes all 2CD, 3LP (on exclusive clear vinyl) and Blu-Ray material, plus a fourth clear vinyl LP, Live At Wembley 1974, a replica Japanese 7” Single of Have A Cigar b/w Welcome To The Machine, a hardcover book including unseen photographs, a comic book tour programme and Knebworth concert poster. Exclusive 50th Anniversary Merchandise along with Limited Edition product releases is also available at the Pink Floyd store here. In 2025 the ardent support and fascination surrounding Pink Floyd’s music remains. The newly restored version of their groundbreaking 1972 film Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII stormed box offices around the world, with the live album debuting at #1 on the UK Albums Chart, marking the band’s first UK chart-topper in eleven years and the seventh in their career. The film was praised by critics and audiences the world over, with The Guardian describing it as a “mesmerically peculiar portrait of a band on cusp of greatness.” Wish You Were Here remains a mainstay on all-time greatest albums lists. In 1973, The Dark Side of the Moon had taken Pink Floyd from a hugely successful breakout British band to one of the biggest rock groups on the planet. Wish You Were Here was the band’s powerful response to their newfound global fame. 50 years since its initial release, Wish You Were Here sounds as resonant and vital as ever, and in reaching this milestone deserves to be celebrated anew.
